A Birthday Verse — corrected transcription

Typed transcription

The rustling leaves come swishing down,
Telling Autumn season is here;
Crispier air and mellow sun,
Early dusk and firelit cheer.

For it is October — soon the twenty‑first —
The birthday of my one and only love;
She brings me happiness and peace,
As pictured by the gentle dove.

Reading this verse on her birthday morn,
After a kiss and a caress,
She will smile at the small gifts,
Loving me none the less.

Ingredients for a happy life,
Very welcoming to taste;
You are the foundation
Upon which my life is based.

A happy birthday, my dear wife;
Many happy returns I pray,
For my loving companion,
Always with me, night and day.
